It’s that time of year again where the kids are heading back to school and I always like to do something special on the first day. You only get so many and I like to create a little memory. This year it was just the four of us so I set up a special pancake breakfast in the nook. It was cozy and simple, and didn’t put too much pressure on the morning.
Things are always hectic trying to get everything together for the first time after summer break. I usually prepare lunch the night before, just to give me a little extra time with the kids. This year I got to hear all about what they were most excited for and felt great sending them off for their big day.
I picked some of the last hydrangea blooms out of the garden for a bright splash as the center piece. It’s a big day so I wanted to keep the table neutral and not overwhelm the kids.
I chose Pomegranate’s printed napkins that go great with the brown and blues of the setting. he Baldwin Cafe Au Lait placemats and napkin rings are perfect since they are easy and quick to clean. The blue glasses were whimsical and fun for the kids.
I felt like the browns made for an autumnal table, signifying the changing season. Putting in the pops of blue kept it summery enough since it is still August. It was such a fun morning and one I will remember always. I hope everyone is having a great start to the school year!
